Double Poetry Board

This blog is where most of my poetry and other writing ideas can be found. This board will also hold the writings and postings of my friend Ali. She writes as well and I feel she needs to get her writing exposed to the world.

Hey what's up? I'm Justin, 21 and a senior at Seton Hall University. Majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Advertising. Hopefully getting into the Ad World when I graduate. I used to write poetry religiously, and now I write every so often. I'm constantly busy with school. I'm a soccer player, snowboarder, and used to be a track runner. This blog is the surplus of ideas that collect in my brain. I find inspiration from experiences, my family, and my friends. They all deserve all the recognition in the world. Where would I be without them?

Theme searching

side note before reading this- it's written with no capitalization to show the girl's vulnerability as a young teen, and her fear of being hurt again

Finding Lifes Theme

high and low,
i searched for my life's theme,
though all i found was you.

in and out,
i questioned your reason,
and i only found a dead end.

far and wide,
i searched for your alternate route,
though all lead back to me.

here and now,
i'm hoping that,
there are no hidden streets.

and here and now,
you've proved to me,
maybe you're the one i can trust.

not one of my better poems

i went for imagery and it didnt quite come out right lol
i tried? =\

Teardrop

The sound of rain atop my roof,
Reminds me of the screaming tears.
They, the ones rushing down your cheeks,
Bringing forth some of your fears.

The wind whips these droplets around,
Rather than falling they seem to be flying.
I’ve broken your heart and now you speak,
“I like it better when it rains, no one can tell I’m crying.”

You turn around and start away.
The ground rushes to meet me as I sob in sorrow.
Why must we end in such dismay?
I beg I will not wake tomorrow.

Imagery

Within poetry you can create a landscape far more appealing than ones in photographs. For this week I'm choosing Landscape Imagery because it is amazing where a poem can take you. The landscape can be set in any context and with any mood. Hopefully you like it.

Keepsake

The grass hears you

As you whisper

In my ear.

Water trickling by.

Trees bowing

Ever so slightly,

As the may

Witness your beauty.

But in this moment,

We both know that

No one sees you and I

Like we do.

Boudless and

Limitless beings,

Cascaded with care

For one another the same.

Our knot forever intertwined,

The river flows faster

To keep up with our

Love.

Back to the Drawing Board

Written for all of the people in the world trying to figure themselves out. I can identify with you and I'll keep writing for you.

Bringing her heart forth,
Picking the pieces off the floor.
Introduce another,
Consider the next lover,
A risk evermore.

This time will be different.
She knows she can change.
She'll mend her heart,
Accept a new start,
Ease back into the game.

Her thoughts though, have torn her,
pulling in every which direction.
She'll face her fears,
Choke back her tears,
Focus on her true affection.

Peace & Love

Dedications

This week is all about dedications. Anything posted this week is a poem dedicated to a friend or family member. Or just about anyone. I'm up first, and the person I'm dedicating this poem to is Ali.

Rapture

And hand to hand
Like nothing before,
Intense and in passion,
Maintaining consciousness.

Any words lost with the
Rhythm we've created,
Zen in its entirety,
All we care for.

Rapture and
Embrace these moments
Like they will last forever,
Love being our bond.

"Always and forever, my love."
