Double Poetry Board

This blog is where most of my poetry and other writing ideas can be found. This board will also hold the writings and postings of my friend Ali. She writes as well and I feel she needs to get her writing exposed to the world.

Hey what's up? I'm Justin, 21 and a senior at Seton Hall University. Majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Advertising. Hopefully getting into the Ad World when I graduate. I used to write poetry religiously, and now I write every so often. I'm constantly busy with school. I'm a soccer player, snowboarder, and used to be a track runner. This blog is the surplus of ideas that collect in my brain. I find inspiration from experiences, my family, and my friends. They all deserve all the recognition in the world. Where would I be without them?

I'm Back and ready to Go

So I've realized how distant I've been from this blog. It's actually kind of interesting because the same time I remebered the blog was the same time I wrote a poem. And I haven't written in months. So I have something a bit fresh for the readers who actually stumble upon this "off the beaten trail" kind of blog.

I have been in a love yet "pushing away" kind of mood lately. So I wrote this in rememberance of this mood. (I'm trying a new thing where I make a memory by "preserving" that mood of that moment in a poem.) So here's to preservation:

Echo

Living as an echo
Of the love I’d die
To give you.

It seems I’m being drawn away
By your silence,
Yet held tight in your arms.

Light burns to dusk
Shaking my bones
Inside the twisted box you made me.

I’m bouncing off my own walls
And never getting through,
Through to your embrace.
Again.

I swore you off,
And yet like going cold turkey
You’re all I want back.

Never close enough
And always too far away.

A head on my shoulder
Becomes a burn as
The darkness between
Singes me.

To you I seem to be
But a call into an empty canyon.
An echo that pleases your ear,
But is gone the next.
I remain bittersweet.
Hopefully I can continue to update this.
It's good to be back.
